Winterlit Transforms Downtown Santa Monica Into Holiday Mecca

Though today’s temperature high was a balmy 78 degrees, you can still experience a true winter wonderland in Los Angeles. Downtown Santa Monica’s annual Winterlit event is now in full swing. This treasured community tradition is back for its sixth year, showcasing audience favorites along with the reopened Santa Monica Place. From the faux snow to the 8,000 square foot ice skating rink, this year’s Winterlit provides the perfect opportunity to get in touch with your holiday spirit.

One of the most popular Winterlit events, the community tree lighting, takes place this Saturday, November 17at Santa Monica Place. Santa arrives at the tree at 5 p.m., and the tree lighting will take place shortly thereafter at 6 p.m.

Got kids? Saturday is the first day that Santa is on duty to appear in photos. Get your little ones photographed with the jolly man himself, and beat the December crowds (more time for sipping mulled wine). In addition, Aardman and Sony Pictures Animation are celebrating their holiday movie release, Arthur Christmas, during the Winterlit event. Watch for the special 12 Days of Arthur Christmas events geared towards children.

Don’t miss out on other popular Winterlit features include ice skating, holiday concerts, Menorah lightings, and more. For additional Winterlit event details, visit their website.
