What to Do This Weekend: 5/2-5/4 Edition

Well, the heat wave we’ve been experiencing in Los Angeles is almost over, so it’s safe to venture out of your ice cold air conditioning for some fun weekend events!

Friday 5/2

Fan of star wars are you.  Yeesssssss.

Ahem, Yoda Speak aside, go celebrate “May the fourth be with you” at this exhibit comprised of storm trooper helmets, each of which has been decorated by a Pixar, Disney, Lucasfilm artist or by a street artist.

From trippy psychedelic paint jobs to luxurious feathers, these alternative takes give the stoic helmet a wild and fun twist and you a good laugh! The exhibit runs through the weekend.

Saturday 5/3

Just because we aren’t in Kentucky, doesn’t mean you can’t wear a crazy hat and watch the Derby! Head over the the luxurious and historic Los Angeles Athletic Club downtown for their Hold Your Horses derby watching event.

With a $45 ticket you will enjoy a Kentucky themed buffet, watch the races with others dressed in their Derby finest, have photo fun in the booth and of course, enjoy a complimentary mint julep!

Sunday 5/4

In celebration of BritWeek, head to downtown Santa Monica and celebrate the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare with a free day of exciting performances, children’s workshops, costumes for dress-up, Shakespeare-inspired street art and more!
