The Top 5 Things Forgotten During Most Spring Cleanings

Spring cleaning comes but once a year! Here are 5 ways to get more out of your spring cleaning by not skipping out on the most commonly forgotten about items.

  1. Refrigerator
You’d be surprised how many expired condiments and half empty take out containers can be forgotten about in a refrigerator.  Be sure to give your contents a closer look and make necessary tosses.
  2. Your Shower Curtain
Shower curtains are a great place for bacteria to hide out.  To properly clean your shower curtain, be it plastic or fabric, you can toss them into a washing machine of warm water with 2-3 towels for a good scrub.  Skip regular laundry detergent and instead opt for 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar and 1/2 cup of baking soda.  Plastic curtains or liners should not be put into the dryer after the clean as it can cause melting.
  3. Regular Curtains
Curtains made from lightweight fabric can be tossed into the washing machine on delicate.  Curtains that are heavier can simply be sanitized after a good vacuuming with steam.  Anything delicate should of course be laundered by hand.
  4. Air Filters
Don’t wait until the air quality inside of your home or apartment gets musty to switch out the air filter; it is recommended that you switch out the air filter with a new one every 6-8 weeks, however, if you are someone who doesn’t have the time of money to get this done, at least try to opt for removal and replacement twice per year.
  5. Baseboards and Moulding
Not every home has them, but a majority will.  It is a universal truth that your home should literally be cleaned from the top to the bottom.  With this in mind, be sure that you start by dusting off ceiling fans and any moulding and that you clean off baseboards right before vacuuming or sweeping.
