Screaming Screeners: Movies for Halloween Around Los Angeles

Calling all classic and cult movie lovers of the spooktacular and fantastically ghastly variety!

Here in Los Angeles we are extremely lucky to be home to several organizations and venues that screen revivals all year long.  Still, October is a particularly fantastic time of the year for those who believe that Halloween is more of a season and less of just a one day holiday.

Here are a few of the above mentioned organizations/venues that are showing some Halloween classics both on Halloween and on the days leading up to it.  Enjoy!

Cinespia, the fine folks who combine classic movies with ultra-modern fun (DJ’s, photo booths and more) have put together a line up of 3 Halloween classics in 3 different but equally cool and spooky Los Angeles locations.  Check them out below and be sure to grab your tickets in advance as these screenings are extremely popular and tend to sell out early!

American Cinematheque

Since 1987 the American Cinematheque has blessed the Los Angeles public with screenings of both classic and indie movie masterpieces.  These take place in the glamorous and renovated Old Hollywood movie cinemas, the Aero and the Egyptian.  See what they have in store during the weeks leading up to Halloween below!

Truly one of the most unique movie watching experiences that you are likely to have, this cozy and often overlooked music hall/movie house features whimsical pre-show entertainment by way of a sing-a-long, a classic short and most notably by its Mighty Wurlitzer, a meticulously preserved and massive 1925 wind-powered pipe organ that not only glows in the dark but has several other entertaining additions! We highly recomend that you grab some friends and check out at least one of their many Halloween themed movie screenings between now and the 31st.

The Nuart Theatre in West Los Angeles has been the long time location of midnight movie screenings, most famous for their year-round Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings that are accompanied by a live ensemble cast.  This year you can enjoy not only the incredible mayhem that is several midnight screenings of the RHPS but also a midnight screening of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is scheduled for October 23rd!
