Santa Monica Gears Up for Fourth of July Parade

If it’s Fourth of July in Santa Monica, that means it’s time to enjoy the city’s annual Main Street parade. Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the parade will wind its way from the Santa Monica Civic Center to Main Street, heading south toward Venice.

The theme for this year’s parade, which is sponsored by community organization the Ocean Park Association, is science and technology. Accordingly, expect to see many floats and marchers dressed with innovative, science-themed outfits.

Whether or not you’re planning to go, be aware that there will be multiple road closures in Santa Monica on that day. Portions of streets including Main, Neilson, Pico, Bay, Bicknell, Pacific, Strange, Hollister, Ocean Park, Hill, Ashland, Pier and Marine will be affected. Bus delays and detours are to be expected as well.
