Now Mere Muggles Can Live on the Set of Harry Potter

That’s right! British newspaper, the Daily Mail, has announced that the property where the real life “Great Hall” of Hogwarts is located has recently been redeveloped from a historic school into luxurious apartment homes for lease.

Royal Connaught Park, a hulking Victorian Gothic structure located on sprawling park-like grounds outside of London in Hertfordshire, dates back in 1903 when it served as the campus of the Royal Masonic School for Boys until 1977.  Between 1977 and 2009, the campus was utilized by the United States International University-Europe.  Between the 1920’s and today the building and its grounds have routinely served as the backdrop in major films such as the Harry Potter series (the Great Hall and Dumbledore’s office), Hot Fuzz, Indian Jones and Monty Python and the Meaning of Life.  In total, Royal Connaught Park has been the filming location of almost 400 tv shows and movies!

As of right now there are a total of only 28 homes for sale, ranging from residences inside of the main building to a few detached houses that have been turned into town homes.  After the final phase of redevelopment is complete, there will be a total of 380 residences set on the 100 acres of lush parkland.

The price to pay for living at Hogwarts isn’t cheap; one bedrooms start around $500,000! Still, in addition to living in a luxurious, one-of-a-kind home, residents will also have access to the 1400 s.f “Great Hall” for private events, an indoor swimming pool with spa, fitness facility, onsite restaurants, 24 hour onsite “security” patrol and a courtesy shuttle to the nearest train station.
