NMS Properties was recently featured in the winter 2010 issue of the Design, Develop, and

Construct Journal. The article highlighted NMS Properties new Quonset hut project in Santa Monica, which

will feature 97 luxury studio apartments. This was a unique and challenging project for NMS due to the

presence of a Quonset hut from post- World War II located on the property that had become a historical

local landmark. As quoted by NMS Properties COO Jim Andersen, NMS chose “to celebrate the piece as

opposed to minimizing it.”

The Quonset hut project will consist of luxury studio apartments in an attempt to help address the jobs

to housing balance that the city of Santa Monica currently faces. This imbalance has made Santa Monica

very congested during rush hour times due to the amount of workers that commute to the city every day.

This project hopes to create housing that will “meet the needs of not just the folks who want to live in a

great community, but also those who want to live and work in the same city, and are likely to walk to work

every day.”

NMS Properties is currently the top private provider of affordable housing in Santa Monica. In addition to this

new project NMS recently completed Olympic Studio Lofts, which provides moderate- income studio

apartments in the middle of Santa Monica.
