Spend some time shopping on the Third St. Promenade, an outdoor mall, which runs on 3rd St. in Santa Monica from Wilshire Blvd. to Broadway Ave. It is filled with brand name clothing stores like J.Crew and Abercrombie & Fitch, home ware shops like Pottery Barn and ZGallerie, and other goods, such as the three story Barnes & Noble. Cafes and a few quality restaurants are also present.
Catch a current release hot movie at the Third Street Promenade AMC Theatre or watch a number of street performers who dance, sing and play instruments.
Stop by the Farmer’s market on Arizona Ave., between 2nd and 4th from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for fresh produce and baked goods if it is a Wednesday or Saturday.
Walk west to Ocean Blvd. and down to the famous Santa Monica pier for spectacular views of Malibu to the north. On a clear day, you can even see Catalina Island to the west.
Enjoy pier amusements, snacks, games, Ferris wheel and a few other rides.
Drop by under the pier for a visit to the Santa Monica aquarium, offering several touch tanks filled with various aquatic life and great for children.
Catch Big Blue Bus 1 or 2, walk or drive to Main St., Santa Monica, a good place to have a sit down meal and window shopping.
Finish the day with dinner on Main St., choosing from a large selection of restaurants, including Mexican favorite Lula Cocina Mexicana, Irish pubs Finn McCool’s and O’Brien’s, World Cafe for outdoor dining or the Library Alehouse, which boasts a large beer selection, among many others.
