Brace Yourself: Los Angeles Marathon Street Closures on 2/14

The Los Angeles Marathon is a huge event that shuts down 26.2 miles of major streets between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica and it’s happening, of all days, on Valentine’s Day! So, before you plan a Valentine’s Day brunch or dinner, be sure to do some research about what streets will be closed as well as alternate methods of transportation that may make your day a whole lot more stress free.

While the marathon begins in downtown Los Angeles and ends in Santa Monica, there will be closures for traffic as well as parking in between and will also effect West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, Hollywood, Silver Lake and Los Feliz.  Lots of information regarding specifics can be found HERE.

Street closures will begin as early as 1:00 am on February 14th for route taping.   While some streets will begin to reopen as early as 8:00 am that same morning, areas on the Westside, including the finish line in Santa Monica, at the intersection of California Avenue and Ocean Avenue, won’t reopen until close to 9:00 that evening.

For those of you that will be out and about on Sunday, we recommend that you check out the Go Metro page HERE that has information on what bus and/or train lines that may be effected by the marathon as well as details regarding special routes being offered that day in order to make getting around much easier!
