So you’ve just moved into this dicey new pad, and you’re ready to channel your inner Martha Stewart and decorate your home sweet home. Catch is, you’ve just paid first and last month’s rent, a hefty  security deposit, and signed up for HBO. Sure, you’re wallet is more anorexic than the latest Hollywood “it” girl, but don’t fret– even in Los Angeles, you can live on a budget, and still make your place look like it was decorated by a show on TLC or the Style Network. Los Angelenos like myself have long been faking our way into looking good by buying discount digs. And what better place to start off then at these cheap joints that still manage to sell cute furniture and accessories:This chain store is located all over the country, but the one near the Grove is by far, my favorite. Ample parking and being in walking distance from my place from it makes it super convenient. I’ve bough my first set of red silk sheets here for $15, fancy frames for $3-$8, and all my designer bathroom rugs for practically pennies. I shelled out only $10 for a Hotel brand rug which retailed for $80. What can I say? I feel really good knowing that I’m cheating the system. And yes, it’s okay to say, “I got it at Ross.” Other accessory steals are the towels and pillows (they stock Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein) and funky boho looking furniture accents like little side tables, buffets, desks, etc. Some of the stuff gets a little scuffed up, and it can get crowded at times (esp. with the growing population of screaming infants that seem to be infiltrating the city on a daily basis), but overall a great place for cheap housewares. PLUS, if you’re an old fogie like my dad, go on Tuesdays where you can get a 10% senior citizens discount!
