3 Fun Weekend Excursions to Take Outside of Los Angeles

Los Angeles can be an amazing place to live but let’s face it, the traffic and the heat and the smog can be a little much sometimes.  Here are three destinations that are less than a three hour drive from Los Angeles that are sure to re-charge your batteries and leave you feeling refreshed!

1. Idyllwild

Located two hours outside of Los Angeles, Idyllwild is a wonderful  little mountain town with so many scattered pine trees that you’ll think you’re in the north woods! Stay at one of the many bed and breakfasts or, for those who feel a little more adventurous, do a little camping. Be sure to check out the hiking and Lake Fulmor for the full experience!

2. Ojai

Meet the smaller, less touristy sister of Santa Barbara.  Two hours outside of Los Angeles and tucked into the Topatopa Mountains, visitors love the fresh air as well as the amount of vineyards and rustic shops to explore. Bonus? It’s a perfect spot for Yogis!

3.   Catalina Island

If your weekend get-a-way still involves the beach, why not set sail on one of the charters that will take you from Marina del Rey to Catalina Island? Chose from either the Avalon destination where you’ll find lively restaurants, bars and entertainment or the more secluded side of the island known as Two Harbours! Regardless, there’s lots of fun to be had including snorkling, dining and exploring.
